• Returns are navigated on a case by case basis but any item in an unused condition is eligible for return within 2 weeks of delivery. Some exclusions apply to special ordered materials but I will always do my best to make sure you happy with your purchase. Custom engraved items are not eligible for return.

  • All Colibri items are covered for defects or material failures. Following the guidelines in your care sheet is the best way to ensure a lifetime of incredible performance from your tools.

    Things not covered by the warranty but I am willing to help you with would be chips in the blade, handles warping from mistreatment, resharpening, modifications performed by other craftsman or general misuse/mistreatment.

  • I take a very small number of custom orders each year and determine if it is a good fit for both of us. If you would like to consider a custom order please email me at Michael@colibri-knives.com and include the following information. If you are unsure of anything that’s okay but the more information you can give me the better. All custom orders require a $100 non refundable deposit. An additional amount may be required based on final material selection.

  • Each build is unique and has it’s own challenges and quote time. Most projects are completed within 4-6 months but can be shorter or longer depending on specifics.

  • Stainless is Rwl34, Nitro V or Aeb-L

    Monosteel Carbon is 52100 or 80crv2

    Patterned Steel is 1084 and 15n20

    San Mai Style Steel has an 80crv2 core

  • Sharpening works a bit different for everyone based on skill level and what tools you have available to you. I think kitchen knives perform best at 1000 grit and don’t need to go any higher but this is totally your preference. I would absolutely recommend using a strop or ceramic honing rod on a regular basis for maintenance. There are some incredible videos on youtube to help you along in the learning process. I do not recommend any pull through or rolling sharpeners. I would also be weary of the guy at your local farmers market. If you are unsure, feel free to reach out.
